The flow switch or detector of the fire extinguishing system is an important part of the sprinkler lines. In its body, there is a paddle blade with a micro switch. When water flows in the sprinkler pipeline and its paddle blade is stimulated, a warning signal is sent to the fire alarm system by a micro switch. Detectors operate with the help of the force that the fluid exerts when it moves.
A fire switch is a critical piece of equipment in fire extinguishing systems that interrupts the electrical connection in the event of a fire and allows the fire extinguishing system to activate automatically. This equipment acts as a bridge between the fire department and the electrical equipment of the building and is very important in preventing the spread of fire and protecting people and properties. The use of a fire extinguisher is recommended as a basic safety tool in any commercial or industrial building so that in the event of a fire, the fire extinguishing system is automatically activated and further damage is prevented. These devices are placed in the path of the fluid flow inside the pipe and from the pressure force resulting from the flow with other parts of the system, it gives the necessary command in the direction of the necessary changes in the mechanism of the system. Commands can include turning on or off a pump or fan, or turning on an alarm, opening and closing an electric valve, etc. There are different types of flow switches, of which the vane (pedal) type is suitable for general purposes of controlling the flow of liquids, especially water.
The water flow indicator should be installed in a place whose length on both sides is not less than 5 times the diameter of the pipe. Note that the direction of the blade must match the direction of the water flow. The water flow indicator should be installed vertically with the pipe. If it is not installed vertically, if it is not installed vertically on the pipe, check the flow to meet the requirement. When the paddle blade is installed on the pipe, the plastic blade is rolled into the pipe housing. The wiring of the flow switch of the current indicator must be connected according to the wiring diagram. After installation, the water flow indicator should be checked every six months.
